The two torn notes are in the main reception hall: one is stuck to the Allosaurus fossil's hand on the left, and the other is at the base of the Brontosaurus fossil on the right. Together they reveal 9216, the code for the nearby employees-only keypad.
This is the opening reception puzzle in the full game. It is separate from the later gift-shop basement keypad, which serves a different door. If you are still looking at the large fossil displays near the entrance, use the route below.
First fragment: the Allosaurus hand
From the reception area, head left toward the large Allosaurus fossil. Look at its hand rather than only checking desks and floor-level surfaces. The fragment is attached to the hand.
Use the nearby rocky platform to get within reach. This is a small traversal task as well as a search: standing on the hall floor and scanning the exhibit may reveal the paper without putting you close enough to pick it up.
Once you reach it, collect the fragment before moving to the other side of the room. You do not need to leave the reception hall or reach a later security office for this half of the code.

Use the rocks to reach the fragment held above the floor.
Second fragment: the Brontosaurus base
Cross to the right side of the hall and find the Brontosaurus fossil. The second paper is at its base. Search low around that display instead of continuing to climb toward its head.
The different heights help distinguish the two tasks. The Allosaurus fragment requires reaching a hand; the Brontosaurus fragment is a base-level pickup. If you have been climbing the long-necked skeleton to find the code, return to the base and check the immediate display area.
Collect this half and join the two fragments to read the complete number. There is no need to derive a new code from dinosaur facts or guess the missing digits.

Search the base of this skeleton for the second torn fragment.
Enter 9216 at the employees-only door
- Return to the keypad beside the employees-only section.
- Enter 9216.
- Open the route into the office area.
- Take the token from the counter inside.
- Use that token to continue toward the theater.
Opening the door solves the code puzzle, but the token is the immediate progression item beyond it. If you go through the door and then find the theater route still blocked, check the counter before searching the reception hall again.
That token belongs to the early theater entry sequence. A later exhibit has another token associated with obtaining the flashlight. Finding one does not mean you have already completed both token tasks.

This is the reception lock associated with the two torn notes.
If you have the code but still seem stuck
Check the door you are using. The relevant keypad is in the reception area beside the employees-only section. A locked basement door much later in the gift shop is a different puzzle, so applying 9216 there is the wrong comparison.
If the employees-only door opens, stop searching for more fragments: that part is complete. Look for the counter token and continue to the theater. The theater's later interruption leads to a power repair task, not another missing half of this reception code.
If you only remember collecting one fragment, revisit its opposite landmark. Start with the Allosaurus hand on the left, then the Brontosaurus base on the right. Using those two fixed positions is faster than checking every exhibit, note or display in the hall.
